HOW TO BEGIN TEACHING LESSONS ONLINE

PART 1: Asynchronous Video Lesson

Intro Level 1 “Spit and Glue” (One-way)

  • Gear (and software) doesn’t matter – use what you have, key is to connect, communicate, and create 
  • Go where your kids are already spending their time
  • Gmail -> YouTube and Google Drive

Step 1: Creating the Video

Phone

  • Picture: Framing (distance, height, angle)
  • Sound: mic placement, close enough for your voice, avoid audio clipping (play softer or off axis)
  • Lighting: Window, Lamp or Outside

Computer

  • Quicktime, iMovie, Windows Movie Maker

Combo

  • Phone -> Computer: edit, add titles, etc.
  • Airdrop, Image Capture 

Step 2: Uploading the Video

  • YouTube, Google Classroom, Facebook Group
  • Phone or Computer

Step 3: Title/Info Options

  • YouTube Studio
  • Uploading PDF’s, create a link, add to description – ease for students

Step 4: Notify Students

  • Software of your choice: Remind, Band, Email
