Let’s connect on Instagram!
In case you didn’t notice, Instagram released a new logo and user interface today. The internet is already in a frenzy about the change, but here are some quick thoughts on the matter:
- Get over it. Nobody likes change – that’s a normal human response. That being said, just get over it. Seriously. I don’t mean it in a negative mean way, but a “come on, let’s go :)” kind of way. Did we all love the original logo because it perfectly captured the nostalgia and joy of photo sharing that first attracted us to using IG? Yes, but realize there are plenty of other things that can occupy our time, including more content creation. Celebrate the old logo, and let’s get on with taking and sharing more photos!
- It’s Different. Don’t think of it as “better” or “worse.” It divides people into two camps and again, there’s no sense in spending our most precious commodity, Time, on something so trivial. Let’s just all agree it’s different and keep going.
- Focus on what matters. What matters is Instagram is a powerful tool that allows us to continue to share, engage, and connect. Think of all the other things you can be doing. It’s easy to be a nay-sayer. Find your motivation for a “half-glass full” and focus on that.
Now, the aesthetic change of IG may foreshadow larger changes to come on the IG platform, so it’ll be interesting to see what comes next. In the meantime, let’s enjoy taking some photos and connecting online!
