I came across a quote this week that I wanted to share:
“The way you live your days
is the way you live your life.”
— Annie Dillard
As many of you know, I have a daughter who is almost 2 years old. Everyday, I can see her changing right before my eyes. It’s most apparent when she can suddenly say or do something that she couldn’t before.
Today, she grabbed my hand, and in Mandarin said, “Dad – can you help me?” WHOA – mind blown! She then proceeded to empty a box of neon orange, foam earplugs onto my lap.
I share this because as I get older, it’s more overt to me when periods of days seem to just fly by. The quote I shared today particularly resonated with me because:
1) it was a reminder that when I look back a month, or look back at a year, what I’ve accomplished is the sum of many individual days of work and
2) the kind of relationship I want to have with my daughter in 20 years will be the sum of all the little things we do together on a day-to-day basis.
There’s been a large influx of new community members this past week, between Karl’s #Quadphilosophy, the Season 2 Live Lesson Pack, and the completion of Season 3 Live Lessons. For this, I’d like to take today to start the weekend with a moment of gratitude.
THANK YOU
To our new Marching Percussion Community members and Facebook page subscribers, “Welcome!” – through these emails and posts, I look to provide you more value beyond the content I share on my social media channels, and to share a little more behind the scenes on the projects I’m creating.
To our OG readers, I’d like to say a HUGE thank you. The days are flying by, but I want the big thank you that I write at the end of this year to be the sum of many little moments of gratitude I express along the way.
Thanks to everyone that wrote me back last week – really enjoyed getting to hear about what you’re working on.
If you choose to write me back this week, tell me about how you strive to live your life. It doesn’t have to be your manifesto, think of it as just a few sentences for me to get to know you better 🙂
How will you “live your days” this weekend? I’m currently prepping for an upcoming 2 week camp that starts on Monday, in addition to 3 other projects that I’ll share more about in an upcoming blogpost.
I’ll be back in your inbox next week – until then, have a great weekend!
